Research Scientist (Chemistry), fixed-term, Helsinki

Valio Ltd’s R&D Chemistry laboratory is currently looking for a Research Scientist to join our Research Analytics team for fixed-term of one year, starting 1^st August 2024 (or start by agreement).

Our Research Analytics team is focused on providing accurate, cost-efficient analytics and analytical solutions as well as solution-oriented expert support in chemistry and microbiology. Our internal customers include R&D research and technology projects, product development as well as production and their laboratories. As a Research Scientist you will be developing and performing chemical analysis, data analysis and reporting results (according to ISO 17025). Your main responsibilities will include solving analytical challenges as well as planning, performing, and reporting method validations. In your role, you also get to participate in research and development projects in the role of a chemistry expert. We are looking for applications with flexible previous experience in food-related analytics, topped with customer-oriented will-do attitude. Could it be you?

Requirements:

• Master’s degree in chemistry/food chemistry or in a related field
• Good general knowledge of chemistry and analytical techniques, especially liquid chromatography (HPLC, UHPLC, LC-MS) and/or gas chromatography (GC, GC-MS) 
• Varied methodology and laboratory equipment technology skills are highly appreciated 
• Previous experience in either vitamin analytics or ICP are an advantage 
• Strong will to develop your own work and ways of working 
• Proactive attitude and excellent co-operation and problem-solving skills
• Flexibility and adaptability in changing environment 
• Customer-oriented attitude and ability to communicate in practical terms 
• Good reporting skills 
• Fluent in Finnish and English, proficiency in Chinese is an advantage
