Communications coordinator, Helsinki

At Valio, we have always looked forward. Our vision is to be a leading dairy and food company with loved brands and innovative solutions. At the same time, we are solving some of the major challenges of our time and building a future food system that produces food sustainably.

Join our team!

We are now looking for a new colleague to join Valio’s Group Communications team. Our team creates communication insight and supports Valio’s management and experts in their messaging. We lead Valio’s group communications internally, externally and to our owners – 3,400 Finnish dairy farmers.

As a communications coordinator, your role is to provide valuable support to the communications team in various hands-on tasks. You get support from a team of senior communications professionals, and you collaborate with the colleagues around the whole company and with external partners.

Your work includes a variety of duties:

Content creation: You assist communications managers in creating content for various communication channels, including newsletters, LinkedIn posts, and internal news. You are part of the team keeping the website, intranet pages and company presentations up to date and working collaboratively in their development.

Proofreading and editing: Valio communicates in Finnish, English and Swedish. You coordinate our translation process and assist in proofreading translations, depending on your language skills. You edit texts in Finnish to ensure clarity and the right tone of voice in our messaging.

Publishing: Whenever Valio has news to share, you are the person who publishes the news in our internal and external channels.

Media Desk: You are part of the team that coordinates media contacts.

Administrative support: You assist your co-workers in the smooth running of everyday life. This can include scheduling meetings and trainings, coordinating events, processing invoices, organising photo shoots, and more.

This role is a good fit if most of the following applies to you:

  • You enjoy a versatile job that ranges from routine tasks to solving unexpected situations.
  • You have good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • You take initiative and you are proactive in your work.
  • You have service mindset and a can-do attitude. You enjoy supporting colleagues in their work.

  • You have good writing and text editing skills. Your Finnish is excellent, and you are fluent in English. Finnish is the main working language in this job (e.g. when assisting Finnish media), but you also need English frequently (e.g. in our internal communication). Swedish is a plus.
  • You are detail oriented and thorough in your work. In addition, you have an eye for visual details (e.g. PowerPoint, video and graphic design skills are a plus).
  • You are excited about learning and developing new skills and ways of working related to communications, such as mastering new tools, and staying up to date on industry trends.
  • Your educational background gives you good basis and tools for the role. E.g., Bachelor’s degree in business administration, media, communication, languages or equivalent.

We offer you:

  • Meaningful work: we are building together the future food system
